Abstract
This book serves as a comprehensive practical guide to the testing and quality control of concrete materials. With the widespread use of both cast-in-place and pre-cast concrete in modern construction, understanding the complex, composite nature of concrete is essential.
This volume addresses this need by providing a detailed description of a wide range of physical and chemical tests for the primary constituents of concrete—water, cement, aggregate, and additives—in accordance with various national standards. It covers testing procedures for both ordinary concrete and specialized types, with a particular focus on self-compacting concrete (SCC), including an extensive array of tests to determine its workability.
Primarily designed as a textbook for undergraduate students in the "Concrete Technology and Laboratory" course, the book is also a valuable resource for graduate students and technical professionals. Its ultimate goal is to contribute to the improvement of concrete structure quality and promote the efficient use of economic resources in the construction industry.
