Abstract
This book is a comprehensive academic work that distills the author's thirty years of experience teaching statistics and probability to students in basic sciences and engineering at the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels. It is designed to cover approximately twelve credit hours of coursework, encompassing four key subjects: Engineering Statistics and Probability, Fundamentals of Probability, Probability (1), and Statistical Methods.
The textbook is systematically structured into twelve chapters, each containing instructional content, examples, and exercises. The only prerequisite for readers is a solid familiarity with differential and integral calculus.
Chapter Outline:
Descriptive Statistics
Probability Theory
Discrete and Continuous Random Variables and their related probability functions.
& 5. Specific Discrete and Continuous Distributions, examined separately.
Joint, Marginal, and Conditional Distributions for both discrete and continuous cases.
Distributions of Functions of Random Variables, presented using various methods.
Limit Distributions and Inequalities.
Sampling Distributions.
Statistical Inference, covering point and interval estimation (confidence intervals).
Statistical Hypothesis Testing for various distributions.
Simple Linear Regression and its properties.
By integrating rigorous theory with practical examples, this volume serves as an invaluable resource for both instructors and students seeking a deep and applied understanding of statistical science.
