Abstract

This book serves as a comprehensive guide to the assessment and evaluation of motor development, aiming to contribute to the scientific community of physical education and sports sciences. It addresses the critical need for reliable and valid assessment tools in the field of motor behavior, emphasizing that while tests are not the sole diagnostic method, their use is essential for researchers and therapists due to their practical benefits.
A core focus of the book is on the psychometric properties—such as validity and reliability—of the various tests it presents. It systematically introduces a range of perceptual-motor development tests across domains including health-related physical fitness and movement. For each area, the book details at least two different tests, providing their specific validity and reliability metrics.
Designed for practical application, the book enables students and practitioners not only to familiarize themselves with these assessments but also to administer, score, and interpret them effectively. As such, it functions both as a foundational textbook for students and as a valuable reference in counseling centers, motor development clinics, and psychology practices for children, parents, coaches, teachers, and the general public.
By compiling a diverse set of standardized assessment tools with their psychometric credentials, this volume is an indispensable resource for anyone involved in measuring, understanding, and fostering motor development.
