Abstract
This book serves as an introductory and practical guide to statistical data analysis, specifically tailored for undergraduate and graduate students in various fields of Earth Sciences, such as Geology and Geography. With the increasing volume of data in modern research, a solid understanding of data analysis principles has become essential.
The book''''s primary goal is to explain fundamental concepts and preliminary data analysis techniques in a simple, conceptual manner, minimizing reliance on complex mathematics. It is structured to cover the core syllabus for statistics and probability courses in Earth Science undergraduate programs while also supporting graduate students in analyzing data for their research and theses.
A key emphasis is placed on the critical understanding that merely using software for analysis, without grasping the underlying theoretical foundations, can lead to misleading interpretations. To bridge this gap, the book parallels theoretical explanations with practical guidance on implementing these analyses using common, accessible software.
