Abstract
This book is the Persian translation of Richard Wilson's valuable compilation, "Minerals and Rocks," which serves as an accessible and unified introduction to the fundamental building blocks of our planet. It is designed to demystify the wonders of the Earth for a broad audience, from students to anyone curious about the ground beneath their feet.
Acknowledging that human civilization has grown and thrived by utilizing the Earth's resources, the book argues that a wise and rational exploitation of these divine endowments is only possible through a proper scientific understanding of the Earth itself. This understanding begins with a knowledge of its primary constituents: minerals and rocks.
Distinguished from other specialized texts, this book's strength lies in its ability to bring together diverse groups of minerals and rocks into a single, coherent, and clearly explained collection. Written in simple and fluid prose, it systematically covers:
The formation processes of minerals and rocks.
Crystal structures.
Comprehensive classification systems.
Structured into seven dedicated chapters, this guide is an essential resource for students across multiple disciplines, including geology, geomorphology, civil and mining engineering, metallurgy, and agriculture. It provides a foundational knowledge crucial for preserving past heritage and building future civilizations sustainably.
